Life Drawing // September 2011
The challenge of drawing and painting from life is the primary passion of the artists presently exhibiting at AIM for Art Gallery. Eddie Bates, Janet Carter, Trixie Dinn, Jo Stone and Louise Wooldridge came together as a result of their shared interest and are now affiliated to other artists in the Leighton Buzzard area under the umbrella of The Life Club. The works on show carry a distinct unity with many pieces developed from the same studio sessions but within this, the individual works display and varied focus that allows for the rare opportunity to compare differing artistic interpretations of a single subject matter. The Life Club has held three very successful Summer Exhibitions at the Moat Farm Gallery in Stoke Hammond.

Queens Court Arts Market // August 2011
We recently partook in an arts market held in Queens Court in thecentre:mk. As we were thankfully spared the rain, it proved an enjoyable and successful day, selling pieces and cards for our represented artists and spreading word of the Gallery and its aims. As well as sampling the homemade cakes on sale on other stalls, we had the opportunity to mingle with and explore the works of artists with stalls of their own, all in all a great day.

After a fantastically successful show last year the Aim for Art Gallery is again working with Shenley Brook End School Art and English departments to showcase the wonderful talent of their students. This year we have the exciting addition of The Radcliffe School art department also taking part to create a showcase of the highest standard.
The exhibition runs with an Olympic theme and reveals in its vibrancy and imagination the quality of expertise and creativity that our young people have in Milton Keynes.

John Butterworth Retrospective // May - June 2011
John Butterworth
1944 - 2010
This exhibition was a retrospective of the much loved, Milton Keynes artist John Butterworth.
The exhibition featured some of his larger, very dynamic works mainly concentrating on geometric shapes. They are stunningly beautiful and make a wonderful contribution to the art heritage of Milton Keynes. This exhibiion would not have happened without the determination and persistance of Ian Michie of Public Arts Trust, Milton Keynes. Designed and curated by Gary Williams with the assistance of Peter Foster. Funding for this exhibition was kindly given by MK Community Foundation.
John once said of his paintings: “They are arrived at by mathematical formulae; they are highly organised, complex, consistent and coherent mathematical and logical expressions of universal natural law. Each painting is worked out by having its own rules of composition which govern the entire structure and colour of each individual work. They express the harmony of the universe, the hidden order behind it, as harmonious and serene, peaceful in expressing stability without nuclear weapons. All my work is aimed at a fairer world for the poor.”
In the last ten years of his life, he discovered a totally different style, which he developed alongside his other work. With the help of a computer, he would combine photographs of religious paintings with photographs taken by telescopes of distant parts of the universe.
